God said in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.” The ultimate way to live the abundant life of a Christian is to have a mix of head and heart. It is wonderful thing to have a heart for God, but without proper knowledge, this can result in what is called, “zeal without wisdom.” This is much of the problem with legalistic believers. Their hearts are in the right place. But their understanding – and therefore, their compassion – is impeded by ignorance.
A proper understanding of the Holy Bible requires at least a basic understanding of its original languages, Hebrew and Greek. It is impossible to fully understand God’s intention in Scripture without first studying the idiomatic characteristics of the languages it was written in originally. Without taking into account the idiom, context, and culture of the Holy Scriptures, a Bible interpreter can do more harm than good.
We at Open Door Worship Center place great emphasis on the exegetical and contextual aspects of God’s Word. With the Bible as the sole source of our faith and practice, we use the Bible to interpret the Bible. As a result, many people throughout the years of our ministry have been set free from the bonds that have been placed on them as a result of faulty interpretation of Scripture.
